THE PHILADELPHIA JUNGIAN PROFESSIONAL CLUB AND The National Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis
ARE PLEASED TO OFFER:
The RED BOOK OF CG JUNG:
His Inner World and His Understanding of the Psyche
The Red Book is a beautiful 205-page manuscript written and illustrated by Swiss
psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung between 1914 and 1930, and published on October 7,
2009. It is an unprecedented description of the immersion into an individual’s
inner world and accounts for the discovery of the inner Personal and Collective
Unconscious. This book has historical and psychological importance, and from it
stems Analytic Psychology, as developed by C.G.Jung, the basis of psychiatry,
and the understanding of the human psyche. This presentation will combine an
introduction to Jung’s writing of the Red Book with a discussion of his analytic
concepts. In addition, the relationship between Sigmund Freud and C.G. Jung in
the period before World War II and the significance of that relationship in
Jung’s theories will be addressed.
