ARE
PLEASED TO OFFER:
Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy and Human Goodness: Theory and Techniques
Challenging the naturalistic and value-free stance of psychoanalytic theory,
this presentation proposes that a particular view of what constitutes a “good’
human being can be discerned by briefly reviewing the views of Freud, Klein,
Winnicott, Erikson, and Bion. Potential criticisms will also be addressed. The
impact of moral values upon clinical work and different ways in which the
concept of human goodness plays a role in the conduct of psychotherapy will be
highlighted. The presentation will offer ample clinical vignettes to underscore
and illustrate its theoretical and technical proposals.
